Macular Degeneration Exams
As many as 11 million people have macular degeneration in the United States. Dr. Yee assesses patients with macular degeneration through visual acuity, Optomap photos, amsler grid and central visual field testing. She examines patients until a patient displays symptoms/signs of wet macular degeneration. Once a patient displays wet macular degeneration, Dr. Yee refers patients out to a local retinal ophthalmologist. For patients that are high risk for developing macular degeneration, she pre-treats the patients with lutein and AREDS vitamins to maximize the health of the patient’s macula.
